Authorities attempt rescue of missing man on Mt. Shasta

by Shasta Cascade on March 31, 2010

Update: At 2:42 pm Wednesday, a double-bladed Chinook helicopter could be seen flying over the city of Mt. Shasta and heading north to Black Butte and Weed airport.  It’s not known if the helicopter had dropped off rescuers on the mountain, or if the helicopter was with returning rescuers back to the airport.

Morning skies in Mt. Shasta were party-sunny and gave brief glimpses of the mountaintop.  The skies have since grown more cloudy, and the sky has a total cloud cover as of 2:30pm.    The cloud cover seems to start at about the 9,000 or 10,000 ft elevation level.
