Cool Mountain Nights '09Mt. Shasta – It’s hard to believe that Labor Day Weekend is already upon us. For those in the Shasta area, Labor Day is a reminder to savor the beautiful weather because cold weather will be here soon. Here’s some ideas on what to do:

Sept. 5 and 6: Cool Mountain Nights — Mount Shasta’s annual end of summer celebration on Labor Day weekend.

Friday — Car show and Shine Friday Night Cruise, 7 p.m.
Customer Appreciation at Ray’s Shopping Center: Features Go Cart Racing, Vendors, Food

Saturday — Classic Car Show and Shine (judging begins at noon with awards at 2:30 p.m.) ’50s rock and roll entertainment, open-air marketplace on Castle Street and downtown sidewalk sales. Plus Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Veteran Memorial Motorcycle Ride.

Sunday — Tinman Triathlon, 8:30 a.m. at Lake Siskiyou Campground Marina. Blackberry Music Festival at Mount Shasta City Park, noon to 6 p.m. Includes barbecue, blackberry pie, beverages, games for kids, live entertainment. Admission is free. Info: 1-800-926-4865.
