Where to stay in McCloud

by Shasta Cascade on July 1, 2009

McCloud may not have a large population, but it does have an unusual number of wonderful hotels and Bed & Breakfasts.  Most are operated out of former lumber mill company hotels & buildings.  Many of the buildings are over a hundred years old, and they’ve been kept up or totally renovated with attention to every detail.  These buildings have tons of character, and will appeal to anyone seeking a quiet escape.

The appeal of MCloud is that it’s a quiet old timber town reminiscent of a time long gone. It’s beautiful, quiet and rough around the edges.  It’s a place where you can go to relax and unwind.

Winter sports fans will love the fact that the Mt. Shasta Ski Park is only a five minute drive away, and snowmobilers will love the fact that Pilgrim Creek Snowmobile Park is located just 15 minutes east of town.

Warm weather enthusiasts will appreciate the close promimity to Mt. Shasta, and the hundreds of miles of hiking trails that are in close proximity.

If you want to stay in McCloud, there are about eight hotels and bed & breakfasts to choose from.  In addition, there are a number of private vacation home rentals available.

The McCloud Chamber of Commerce has a great listing of all places to stay in town:

Vacation Homes

If you’ve never stayed at a vacation home, you should consider this option if you like having lots of space.  Here’s how it works: typically, vacation homes are second homes owned by families who live out of the area.  They contract through a management company to rent the house out and keep it clean.

Here’s a sampling:
