Lake Shasta

by Shasta Cascade on May 1, 2009

Lake Shasta is the largest man-made reservoir in California, and the third largest lake in California.

The Lake supplies water for much of California’s central valley. When Shasta Lake is low, there is a huge amount of worry from farmers downstream.

It’s a great for boating, camping, and recreation. You can rent houseboats from local vendors and sail around the lake.

Interest Factoid: Shasta Dam, which creates Lake Shasta, is 602 ft high. It was designed to be hundreds of feet higher, but construction stopped at 602 ft due to shortage of materials during WWII.
