March snowstorm in McCloud breaks all records

by Shasta Cascade on May 17, 2011

McCloud, CA – Just when everyone thought winter was over, McCloud received a record-breaking 8 feet of snow during the third week of March, turning the area into a late-winter wonderland.

With so much snowfall, everyone in town was pretty nervous about the reliability of the electrical power grid.  Last year, McCloud was without power for nearly a week after a major snowstorm and the town set up an emergency warming shelter for those without heat.

There were some power outages this time, but none lasted longer than a day, thanks to the presence of PG&E crews who were on standby in the area to repair damage as it occurred.
