Great building. When our kids were young, we would head out back home from a weekend camping trip in the western side of the Trinity Alps Wilderness preserve at Jack ass springs campground up hwy 3, the long way to Redding CA., one day we stopped and saw a sign for Callahan days the next weekend. We made the decision to come back, and what fun we had.

I was looking up some of my favorite places that my best friend and I used to go camping, and exploring on long weekends. We stayed at Jack Ass Springs, too! This was mostly in the 80’s. We would drive up from San Francisco, and we explored Callahan, and Forks of Salmon a few times! For a couple of girls, we were very adventurous, and a later trip in the 90’s to Forks of Salmon , camping right in town, scared a boyfriend of mine who came along, SLEEPLESS! We had a ball, though, and he finally realized the fun loving natives weren’t really going to shoot us! We love it from Weaverville, Callahan, ( very pleasantly haunted, I agree), through Gorks of Salmon, and back to Orlean…. but it isn’t a trip for “ worriers or timid drivers! Anyone know if they still have “ The Scorpio parties”?! LoL!
